NEW PROJECTS

Gas supply

MOU has been signed with M/s Petronet LNG Ltd on 27.10.06 for supply of 7.3 MMSCMD gas for the upcoming new projects.

A Gas Supply agreement is expected to be signed soon.

The following projects are proposed to be set up for augmentation of Delhi's core generation and to meet the demand of power in Delhi, during the Commonwealth Games, 2010.

1. Pragati Phase-II

A 750 MW (Nominal Capacity) Combined Cycle Gas Based power station, Pragati Phase-II Project is proposed to be set up at Bamnauli. The construction activities shall commence in 2008-09 and shall be commissioned by 2010.

2. Pragati Phase – III

A 1600 MW (Nominal Capacity) Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power Project is proposed to be set up at Bawana. The construction activities shall commence in 2007-08 and shall be commissioned by 2010.

MOEF has accorded environmental clearance for enhanced capacity of 1600 MW (Max.) Pragati-III Gas Based Combined Cycle Power Project at Bawana, North-West Delhi.

3. Replacement of Coal based I.P. Station with Gas based units

The existing coal based units at I.P. station have out lived their useful life. It is proposed to replace the existing coal based units with 2 x 350 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine units.

4. 1500 MW Coal based Power Project in Haryana (a joint venture project)

Delhi Govt. has signed a MOU with Haryana Govt. and NTPC Limited for setting up of a 1500 MW Coal based power project in Haryana. It is proposed to set up in Distt. Jhajjar and Delhi will have 50% Power of this project. The construction is expected to start in 2007-08 and commissioned in 2010 -11.

5. Coal Mine

Ministry of Coal has allotted a Coal Mine Block Mara-II Mahan in Madhya Pradesh jointly to Delhi and Haryana Govt. After developing the mine, the coal shall be used in coal based power stations to be set up for these two states.
